Vancouver - Osooyoos - Ainsworth Hot Springs - Nelson - Banff - Jasper - Clearwater - Wells Gray - Whistler - Tofino - Victoria - Vancouver

We get to see all the main attractions, wildlife viewing, as well as experience some of the well known and not so well known hot springs!
Self drive tours can be done in a rental car, RV or motor home or even a motor bike!

Itinerary

Day 1 / 2 : Vancouver
Arrive Vancouver and make your way to the Vancouver accommodation. Spend the next two days exploring Vancouver and area. Overnight Vancouver
Day 3: Vancouver - Osooyoos
Pick up car rental if you already did not do so. Depart for Kelowna along Highway 1; Fraser Valley; Bridal Veil Falls; continue on towards Hope and the Crowsnest Highway. This highway takes you past the site of the massive Hope Slide and allows you a chance to tour Manning Park. Once outside Manning Park, the scenery changes from high mountains to a reveal soft, rolling valleys. Welcome to the Okanagan Valley known as the “Land of Plenty”. Other highlights include the history of Keremeos and the restored Grist Mill as well as the many fruit stands that line the road. Arrive late afternoon at your OSOOYOOS accommodation.
Day 4: Osooyoos
Orchards and wineries dot the landscape and make for many touring options. Spend the day touring the many local wineries that have achieved international attention Overnight Osooyoos.
Day 5: Okanagan Valley - Nelson (Ainsworth Hotsprings)
Travel today through the farming hub of BC; here the Dukabohrs and others have hued the land since the days of the Russian Revolution onwards. Overnight Nelson
Day 6 / 7: Nelson
Today we can explore an area that has been shaped by gold seekers who developed the area in the late 1800's. There are museums, abandoned mines and several ghost towns to be discovered. For those that prefer, rent a canoe and paddle the beauty of Kootenay Lake. Hikers and walkers will thoroughly enjoy the hikes and walks into Kootenay Glacier Park. There is also the Ainsworth Hot Springs for the soak at the end of the day! Overnight Nelson.
Day 8: Kimberly
Today continue on to the Rockies towards Fort Steele; a historic Hudson bay trading fort, fully restored and operating in its original form. Continue on to nearby Kimberly, to over night at the Catholic Residential School called the Mission of St Eugene…nowadays this is a full service deluxe hotel! Overnight Mission of St Eugene, Kimberley
Day 9 / 10: Radium Hot Springs
For the next two nights we stay at a unique and deluxe mountain lodge, surrounded by lakes and mountains; sight see, with short walks and hikes in the mountains surrounding Fernie. For those more relaxed we also have the option of spending the day at the resort on the lake shore enjoying the quiet natural beauty of the Rockies. Options also include canoeing and even helicopter sightseeing. Over night 2 nights in mountain Lodge near Fernie
Day 11 / 12: Banff
As if we have not had enough of the Rockies. Today we head North and cross over into the Rockies via Peter Lougheed Park to Canmore and Banff National Park. For the next day enjoy the beauty of Lake Louise and Moraine Lake; take a morning stroll along the lake. For those who crave that cup of tea, walk to the Lake Agnes Tea House. Overnight Banff
Day 13: Banff - Jasper
Today you travel the famous Ice Fields Parkway stopping along the way to capture the sights and sounds of placid lakes, rushing glacier water and the indigenous wildlife! The Parkway affords views of the Athabasca and Dome Glaciers as well as Peyto and Bow Lakes. Overnight Jasper
Day 14: Jasper to Clearwater
This morning, enjoy a tour of Jasper including Maligne Canyon, Mount Edith Cavell (time of year permitting), Pyramid and Patricia Lakes, Maligne Lake and cruise; and depart Jasper by noon this afternoon. Overnight in Clearwater
Day 15: Clearwater - Whistler
Spend this morning sightseeing in the Wells Gray Park, to head out to Lillooet and the Coast Mountains. Overnight in Whistler.
Day 16 / 17: Whistler - Lund
Leave Whistler and head to the famous Sea to Sky Highway to Horse Shoe Bay. Take the ferries up the East coastline of the Inside Gulf of the Pacific. Along the way explore the many small villages, beaches and coves. Overnight Lund.
Day 18 / 19: Lund - Tofino
Leave the East coast of the island today and travel to the Pacific Coast with the huge swell pounding these beaches. Spend the next day in Tofino, for exploring the famous Long Beach, the rainforest and the small town of Tofino. In addition there are options to go on a boat tour bear watching, or the tour for the hot springs on the beach/rocks, or the whale watching, or sea kayaking if you really got into it at Port McNeil! (you would be surprised to learn that sea kayaking is one of the fastest growing sports for the over 50’s!) Overnight at B&B in Tofino
Day 20 / 22: Tofino - Victora
Our Southward travel route today takes us to Victoria, stopping along the way at Duncan, Chemainus and the 1st Nations exhibitions and BBQ. Have the whole next day to exploring Victoria, its gardens, its history and the inner harbor. There are a myriad of options today from whale watching, to the BC museum, to Buchard Gardens. Or just explore the coast to the old forts and beaches. Overnight Suite Hotel, Victoria
Day 23: Vancouver
After breakfast; finish what there was not time for yesterday; after lunch head out to the Schwartz Bay ferry and head back to Vancouver; Drive to airport and return the car back to the car rentals. Tour ends Vancouver.
